Plans to film the class are in development and SLCC has plans to offer online training in Advanced Rooftop Controls for continuing education credit for HVAC Contractors through SLCC’s Workforce Training and Continuing Education. The class was offered at SLCC’s Building Automation lab.
At the training, representatives from Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Control Equipment Company, and Transformative Wave were on hand to train the class on their specific equipment. The result was three fully functioning systems, which enabled vendors to have a both hands-on and beneficial experience. The team worked to secure donations that would help train directly in the technology including commercial rooftop HVAC units, advanced rooftop control systems, economizers, and lab space, to learn about ARC. These programs have been validated by the industry as rapidly growing in the fields of energy efficiency and alternative energy, as well as critical to electric power infrastructure and building management. Many utilities have taken note and promoted energy programs with incentives to encourage participation. Commercial HVAC Rooftop Units and Advanced Rooftop Controls carry significant energy-saving potential that presents high-efficiency opportunities for businesses. The class was developed and taught by Nexant Engineer Chris Cox and funded by Rocky Mountain Power.
